Library Rules and Regulations


  • Silence must be observed in the library
  • No talking loudly or disrupting other people’s use of the library
  • Every user should leave their bags outside the library. Please take out only the relevant notebooks/writing pads, laptops etc. to be used in the library.
  • No food or drink should be consumed in the library
  • Students are required to handle books and reading materials very carefully
  • Students are expected to listen and follow directions from all academic staff at all times
  • Electronic gadgets and mobile phones are acceptable to be used in the Library provided it does not disturb other users.
  • Marking library books with pencil or ink, tearing the pages or spoiling the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously
  • In such case, the last reader will be held responsible unless he/she shows the librarian at the time of issue that the book had been previously marked or damaged. Books will have to be replaced.
  •  Loan rules
  • No books or library materials may be brought out of the library until the loan has been recorded. Unauthorized removal of library materials is regarded as a very serious offence.
  • Library materials borrowed must be returned on or before the due date during the class library schedule.
  • The normal loan period for book is one week.
  • All borrowers (students, teachers, and staff) must settle any overdue loans before they are permitted to borrow again.
  • Books should not be sub-lent. If by any chance such a case reported, that the book was sub-lent and lost, only the member who checked the book out from library will be held responsible.
  • Reference materials are to be used by students in the library.  Teachers may borrow reference materials for use in the classroom when necessary.    
  • Overdue Books – Books must be returned by the due date or earlier if recalled by the librarian. Failure to return a book by the date specified will be treated as a serious offence.
  • Reluctance to return library overdue books or replacement of lost books – will be called for corrective action. If students didn’t return the books even after overdue notices till the end of the term will not be permitted for their grade cards at the end of the term.
